Stop Your Whining

Did I get your attention with that title? Well, despite the record-breaking heat and the departure of the spouse this morning, I thought I'd write a little reminder for everyone (well, for me). This is NOTHING compared to what the pioneers went through. Happy Pioneer Day, everyone!

My sons are both named after Mormon pioneers, ancestors on Jared's side. One lived through the Haun's Mill Massacre, miraculously. My daughter is also named after a pioneer: my grandmother.

What an awesome lady!

I also consider both my parents to be pioneers.

And when it comes to teaching missionaries Armenian, so is my little sis:

But let's get back to the Days of '47 folks. How did they do it?! When I got hot today, I went inside to air conditioning. When I said goodbye to my husband this morning, I knew I'd see him again in a few weeks. The people who went west said goodbye and knew it would probably be forever in this life.

Still, it is hard to say goodbye for what will be the longest separation we've ever had.

We'll miss the Daddy.

I know it's hard, but it does get better. Loves to you all during your separation.

Laurel I'm sorry! I didn't realize you would be apart for so long! But you are right - I love your analogy - the pioneers did it and a lot worse. But it doesn't make it any easier. I don't know if I could do it. Especially now when you have 3! Good luck! Give me a call if you ever need a chat - wish we weren't so far! Love you guys!

Here's to hoping these next weeks apart fly by, and that your kids keep you busy and happy! I'm glad you're able to keep a positive perspective, though I'm sure it's super hard. You can do it, mama!

I have to to second everything Bobbie said. La, you're an inspiration... if anyone in the family's a pioneer, YOU are! We're all so proud of you- even though we miss you terribly.

P.S. Feeling very undeserving of the shout-out, but thanks! :)
