October-November 2012

In the fall we had some pretty exciting events, some of which were only minimally photographed.

Gardening
Our garden actually produced! We had a few carrots and eggplants, among other things. It was not much, but for me, to have anything at all is a big deal.

Isaac's 7th Birthday

Here he is opening a giant box which actually had many more boxes inside until finally, it was an envelop full of letters he had to unscramble: BICYCLE. He chose his new bike the following day.

Grandma Toni's Visit
I sneaked up on her to get this one. Sadly, it was the day she left. But we had a wonderful week with her!
This her "trying to understand a grandchild's story" face. I love my mom.

Everyone has a good time when Grandma's around.

It's hard to get three crazy kids to take a decent picture together, but we tried. We went out to Las Palapas for lunch on the way to the airport.
 My mom and me.

 My mom and my daughter.

Family Pictures
In case you didn't get a Christmas card or you're not on Facebook...

Two in School!

Isaac was quite excited to be going to first grade. Of course, he played it pretty cool when he sat down at his chosen seat. Love that kid!

Noah was pretty excited, too. He got to go later because he's in pre-K. We went outside to wait for the bus.

 Ellie gave him a hug

 and a kiss ("ew!")

Meanwhile, ZZ Top's bus arrived and he happily climbed aboard, waving until he was out of sight. Of course, Ellie did the same. She still waves and waves like crazy.

Now, the first day's trip home  was a completely different story. Let's just say that a super stubborn 4-year-old, a clingy 2-year old and an agoraphobic mother didn't enjoy it. And the car that bumped into us on our walk home didn't help. We'll just leave it at that!

A Bunch of Summer Pictures for Good Measure

A very worthy New Year's Resolution of mine is about the blog-- to finish volume 2 of the blogbook and to finally catch up so I can post more current events. I'm getting impatient! It seems to me that the most important thing of 2012 was Noelle's wedding, and now that it's 2013 I feel like skipping the rest.

So, to resist that impulse, here a few snapshots of what the remainder of our summer looked like.

Of course, we've got silly...

and serious...

Tough...

and tired...

Played ball...

and grew tall...

Said goodbye to Gerry

Gerry and Tony are some of our good friends that we made here in SA. They spoiled us to no end (they still do!) and we were sad to let them move to Virginia.
Of course, the send of dinner was filled with presents! The kids think Gerry is Santa Claus.

Isaac got his own set of scriptures to bring to church. It was a proud moment.

The Cub Olympics for Isaac's new Cub Scout pack was a blast. They really went all out!

And, of course we kept busy at home with chores.
